My Dancing DaySunday, December 14, 2025 at 3:30 p.m.
Presbyterian Church of Clearfield 119 N Second Street, Clearfield, PA Join in the dance this holiday season with the Clearfield Choral Society: from the wonder of the stable, through traditions spanning time and culture, to toasting the holidays ahead.
The wonder of the stable is contemplated with John Rutter’s Carol of the Magi, which poetically describes the thoughts and actions of the wise men’s journey, and Dan Forrest’s awe-inspiring Let the Stable Still Astonish. Vaclav Nehlybel’s Estampie Natalis, literally meaning “dance of the Savior”, is a pure expression of dance and rhythm as celebration, weaving together the religious and non-religious together in something fresh to celebrate the birth. Dance through time and culture, with settings of The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy, African Noel, an English choral-funk fusion of Nova, Nova, and Andre Thomas’ gospel setting of Go Where I Send Thee. Finally, toast the days of the coming holiday, singing Linda Kachelmeier’s setting of the new year carol We Toast the Days, concluding with Mack Wilberg’s festive setting of the English carol, Christmas is Coming. |
HeritageSunday, May 17, 2026 at 3:30 p.m.
Presbyterian Church of Clearfield 119 N Second Street, Clearfield, PA The Clearfield Choral Society is proud to take part in the national Semiquincentential of the United States of America, with a program that celebrates Clearfield County’s unique heritage in our country.
Our love for historical and sacred music begins the program with Ludwig von Beethoven’s dramatic chorus Hallelujah, from the oratorio, Christ on the Mount of Olives, followed by the beloved Renaissance-era anthem, If ye Love Me, by Thomas Tallis. Benjamin Britten’s whimsical fantastical cantata, Rejoice in the Lamb, is an exciting and colorful journey, describing how all creatures, stories, things, and humans rejoice in the Lord in their own ways, while all being exhorted to collectively sing “Hallelujah”. Aaron Copland’s Stomp Your Foot is a true choral square dance, celebrating the county’s inherent love of the popular pastime! Finally, enjoy the sounds that make up Clearfield County’s heritage: the sounds of Italy with the popular commercial tune Funiculi, Funicula, the ballads of Ireland and Scotland with Percy Grainger’s Ye Banks and Braes O’Bonnie Doon (which also celebrates our county’s history of community bands!), and finally, the POLKA. After the concert, you will want to put on your dancing shoes so that you can hit the dance floor with the polka band at our annual reception! |
